CSV Input

Paste CSV, pick your options, and press Convert to JSON. Everything runs in your browser.

Free CSV → JSON Converter

Convert CSV data into JSON with a single click. Paste or upload a table, choose a delimiter and output formatting, and receive a clean array of objects you can use in APIs, databases, and JavaScript applications. Duplicate headers are auto-renamed, numeric conversion is optional, and output can be pretty-printed or minified.

Perfect for Developers

Importing spreadsheet data into a codebase is one of the most common integration chores. This converter handles the messy parsing — quoted fields, embedded newlines, and mixed delimiters — so you get valid JSON every time, formatted exactly how you like it.

Private & Offline

The conversion runs entirely in your browser with no uploads, so it is safe for confidential data and works without an internet connection.

Frequently Asked Questions About the CSV → JSON Converter

What does CSV to JSON do?

It converts a CSV table into a JSON array of objects. With the default "First row is header" option, each column becomes a key and every data row becomes an object, for example the row "Aarav,29" becomes {"name": "Aarav", "age": 29}. Without a header row, columns are named column1, column2, and so on.

Why do my numbers come out as strings?

CSV is text, so every value is read as a string. Enable the "Convert numeric strings to numbers" option to turn values that look numeric (like 29 or 4.5) into JSON numbers. Be careful: leading zeros like "007" or long IDs are safer left as strings.

Which delimiters are supported?

Comma, semicolon, tab, and pipe. Auto-detect examines the first lines and picks the delimiter that appears most consistently, which is handy for files exported from European Excel versions that use semicolons.

What if two columns have the same header name?

Duplicate headers are automatically renamed with a suffix — name, name_2, name_3 — so the generated JSON objects always have unique keys and no data is lost.

Is the conversion done locally?

Yes, 100%. The conversion runs in your browser with no network requests, so it is fully offline and safe for confidential data. You can copy the result or download it as a .json file.

Can I convert a CSV file with quoted fields and newlines?

Yes. The parser handles standard quoted fields, escaped double quotes, and newlines inside quoted cells, so multi-line descriptions or fields containing commas convert correctly.
