Free Folder Tree Visualizer — Interactive Directory Diagrams

Visualize folder structures as interactive tree diagrams. Paste a list of file paths or an indented tree and instantly get an expandable diagram with folder and file counts. Perfect for documenting projects, planning reorganizations, or understanding unfamiliar codebases.

Two Input Modes

Full paths (src/components/Header.astro) or indented trees are both supported, with automatic detection. Duplicate entries merge, sorting keeps folders first, and an ASCII box-drawing tree is always available to copy into documentation.

Local & Offline

Tree building and rendering run entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded, and the tool works without an internet connection.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Folder Tree Visualizer

What input formats does the tree visualizer accept?

Two formats: full paths (one per line, separated by / or \, e.g. src/components/Header.astro) and indented trees (lines indented with spaces or tabs, optionally using box-drawing characters like ├── and └──). The tool auto-detects which format you pasted, and you can also force a mode manually.

How are duplicate paths handled?

They are merged — the same folder or file appearing more than once becomes a single node. This makes the tool ideal for visualizing the output of commands like "find" or recursive directory listings that repeat entries.

Can I interact with the tree?

Yes. Folders are expandable and collapsible by clicking, and an Expand All / Collapse All toggle controls the whole tree. The rendered tree is also mirrored as plain text with box-drawing characters below, ready to copy into docs, README files, or tickets.

How is sorting handled?

By default folders are listed first and everything sorts alphabetically (with natural numeric ordering, so file2 sorts before file10). Switch to "Insertion order" to keep the tree exactly as you pasted it.

What are the statistics shown?

The toolbar reports the number of folders, the number of files, and the maximum depth of the tree. These give a quick overview of a project or directory structure before you dive in.

Is this tool private and offline?

Yes — tree building, sorting, and ASCII rendering all happen in your browser with no uploads. You can copy the tree or download it as a .txt file, and the whole flow works offline.
