Free Online Rock Paper Scissors — Play Friends Head-to-Head

The UtilixVerse Rock Paper Scissors is a free, instant multiplayer duel. Settle arguments, decide who pays for lunch, or run a best-of-seven grudge match — playonline with a friend via a private room code, or share one screen inlocal 2-player mode. No accounts, no downloads, no servers.

How It Works

Both players pick Rock, Paper, or Scissors in secret, and the picks flip over together. Rock crushes scissors, scissors cut paper, paper covers rock. Matches are played asbest of 1, 3, 5, or 7, with a live score bar, synthesized sound effects, round history, and a victory fanfare for the winner.

Private & Secure

Online games connect the two browsers directly via WebRTC — the free signaling service only helps the peers find each other, then the connection is direct. Nothing is stored, nothing is tracked, and local mode works completely offline.

Frequently Asked Questions About Rock Paper Scissors

How do I play Rock Paper Scissors online with a friend?

Tap "Create Room" to host — you'll get a short room code like UXV-K3M2. Share it with your friend, who taps "Join Room" and types it in. Once connected, you both pick Rock, Paper, or Scissors (press 1, 2, or 3) and the picks flip over together. The best-of-N setting decides how many rounds are needed to win the match.

Does it work on one device without internet?

Yes. The "Local 2-Player" mode is fully offline — Player 1 uses the 1, 2, 3 keys and Player 2 uses the 8, 9, 0 keys (or the on-screen buttons). Both picks stay hidden behind question marks until both players have locked in, then they reveal together.

Is the game fair? Are the picks hidden?

In both modes your pick is never shown until both players have locked in — in online mode the pick travels over an encrypted peer-to-peer WebRTC connection and is only revealed when both sides have picked, so neither player can see the other's choice first.

What happens on a draw?

If both players throw the same sign, the round is a draw and nobody scores. You just play another round. Ties are shown in the round history with a "Draw" tag, and they do not count toward either player's best-of-N total.

How does the online connection work? Is there a server?

Games connect directly between the two browsers using WebRTC, with PeerJS's free cloud service handling only the initial handshake (signaling). No game data ever passes through a server, no account is needed, and your picks are not stored anywhere.

What is "best of N"?

You can set the match length to best-of-1, 3, 5, or 7. The first player to win more than half the rounds takes the match — for example, in best-of-5 you need 3 round wins. The score bar at the top shows how close each player is to winning.

Can I rematch after the match ends?

Yes. When a match finishes you'll see a Rematch button that resets the scores and starts a fresh match with the same settings — perfect for settling a best-of-three with a decisive final round.
