Two snakes, one arena!

Join Room

Eat red food to grow and score. First to 10 food — or last snake alive — wins. Don’t hit walls, yourself, or your rival!

2-Player Snake Battle — Free Online Snake Game

The classic snake game, but with a rival on the same board. Two snakes chase the same food in one arena — eat to grow and score, weave around your own tail, and use your body toblock your opponent. First to 10 points or the last snake standing wins.

Local or Online Duels

Play a friend on the same keyboard (arrows vs WASD) or challenge someone across the internet with a private room code. A 3·2·1 countdown kicks off each round, and the arena syncs perfectly on both screens in online mode.

Private, Fair, and Free

Online matches run on direct WebRTC peer-to-peer connections — no servers, no accounts, no tracking. Food spawns from a shared seed so both snakes race for the same pellet. Local mode is 100% offline.

Frequently Asked Questions About 2-Player Snake Battle

How do you win a snake battle?

Two snakes share one arena and race for the same food. Eat a red food pellet to grow longer and score a point. You win by being the first to reach 10 points, or by being the last snake alive — crash into a wall, your own tail, or your rival's body and you're out. Rival heads crashing head-on is a draw unless one snake already has more points.

How do I play online with a friend?

Host creates a room and shares the short code (like UXV-K3M2); your friend joins with it. The host's game is authoritative and broadcasts the arena to the guest a few times per second, while the guest sends its direction changes instantly. Both screens show the exact same snakes, food, and scores with no desync.

Can two people play on one keyboard?

Yes. In "Local 2-Player" mode Player 1 steers with the arrow keys and Player 2 uses WASD. The mode works fully offline and is ideal for passing a laptop back and forth — or play on the same phone with the two on-screen d-pads.

Can I turn 180° and run into myself?

The game prevents instant 180° turns, so you can't reverse directly into your own neck. But if you cut a tight corner and double back with a two-direction combo you absolutely can run into your own tail — weaving with your own body is half the skill, and blocking your rival with your body is the other half.

Does the food spawn fairly?

Yes. Food spawns on a random empty cell each time it's eaten, using a seeded random generator — in online mode the host seeds the arena, so both players see exactly the same food appear in the same places. Both snakes race for it, so greed and positioning matter.

What happens if both snakes crash at the same time?

If the two heads collide head-on, both snakes are knocked out. If one snake already has more points, it takes the win; if the scores are tied, it's a draw. Either way you'll see a clear winner banner and can hit Rematch to go again.

Is it free and private?

Yes — 100% free, no account, no signup. Local mode is fully offline. Online mode connects the two browsers directly with WebRTC (PeerJS handles only the handshake), so your games never pass through a server and nothing is stored.
