Free GPA Calculator — Compute Your Semester GPA

The UtilixVerse GPA Calculator computes your semester GPA in seconds. Add each course with its credit hours and letter grade, choose the4.0 scale (US-style with +/− modifiers) or the 10-point scale (common in India and other countries), and watch your credit-weighted GPA, total credits, and grade points update live. Everything is saved locally in your browser.

How Your GPA Is Computed

Formula
GPA = Σ (Credits × Grade Points) ÷ Σ Credits

Why Credit Weighting Matters

A course's credits reflect how much of your semester it represents. Because GPA is weighted by credits, excelling in a 4-credit core course lifts your GPA far more than in a1-credit elective. Enter credits exactly as printed on your transcript and the calculator keeps the math honest.

From One Semester to the Whole Degree

Track each semester as you go, then feed the results into the CGPA Calculator to build yourcumulative grade point average across all semesters. Pair it with theGrade Calculator to figure out exactly what you need next to lift your average.

Private, Offline, and Free

All computation runs in your browser — no uploads, no accounts, no tracking. Your data stays in your own device's localStorage. A genuinely free and private GPA calculator that works offline.

Frequently Asked Questions About the GPA Calculator

How is GPA calculated?

GPA is the credit-weighted average of your grade points: add up (credits × grade points) for every course, then divide by total credits. For example, a 3-credit A (4.0) and a 4-credit B (3.0) give (12 + 12) ÷ 7 = 3.43. The calculator handles this automatically on both the 4.0 and 10-point scales.

What is the difference between GPA and CGPA?

GPA (Grade Point Average) covers a single semester or grading period. CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is the credit-weighted average across ALL completed semesters. Use the GPA Calculator for one semester and the CGPA Calculator to roll multiple semesters into your cumulative score.

What is the 4.0 scale with +/− modifiers?

In the 4.0 scale used in the US and many international systems, an A+ and A are both 4.0, A- is 3.7, B+ is 3.3, B is 3.0, B- is 2.7, and so on down to F at 0.0. The calculator applies these values automatically when you pick a letter grade.

What is the 10-point CGPA scale?

The 10-point scale is common in India and several other countries, often derived as percentage ÷ 10. Grade points run from 10 (90–100%) down to 0 for a fail. Pick "10.0 Scale" in the calculator and choose grades from the dropdown to compute your semester GPA on this system.

Do credit hours really matter?

Yes — GPA is weighted by credits, so a poor grade in a 4-credit core course hurts far more than in a 1-credit elective. Enter each course’s credit value accurately (check your transcript or syllabus) and the calculator will weight everything correctly.

Is this GPA calculator free and private?

Yes. It is 100% free with no registration, and all computation happens in your browser. Your courses and grades are stored only in your own device’s localStorage and are never sent to a server. You can export or clear them at any time.
