Free Markdown Editor & Preview — Write & Render in Real Time

Welcome to the UtilixVerse Markdown Editor & Preview — a free, browser-based tool that combines a full Markdown editor with alive rendered preview. Write on one side, watch it render on the other — all 100% privately in your browser.

Editor + Preview, Merged Into One

This tool unifies the former Markdown Editor and Markdown Previewutilities. A formatting toolbar inserts bold, italic, headings, links, code, quotes, and lists around your selection; the split-pane layoutshows your source and its live preview together; and dedicated Editor andPreview views let you focus on either side. The old/tools/text/markdown-editor URL now redirects here.

Full Markdown Feature Set

  • Text formatting — headings, bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code.
  • Structure — fenced code blocks, blockquotes, horizontal rules, paragraphs.
  • Lists — unordered, ordered, and task lists with rendered checkboxes.
  • Extras — links, images, and tables, all rendered live.

Safe by Default

The preview is XSS-safe: raw HTML is escaped and shown as text, and link and image URLs are sanitized to safe schemes only. You can paste untrusted snippets without worrying about scripts executing in the preview pane.

Export & Share

Copy the Markdown source or the rendered HTML with one click, download your document as a .md file, orexport a standalone .html filewith clean, self-contained styling. Live document statistics — words, characters, lines, and reading time — update as you type.

Privacy & Performance

Everything runs entirely in your browser — your document never leaves your device. Rendering is instant with zero round-trips, and the tool works offline after the page loads.

Frequently Asked Questions About Markdown Editor & Preview

What is the Markdown Editor & Preview tool?

It is a merged writer + renderer: a split-pane Markdown editor with a formatting toolbar on one side and a live-rendered preview on the other. As you type, the preview updates instantly — no page reloads, no server round-trips. You can also switch to editor-only or preview-only views, download your document as .md, or export it as a standalone HTML file.

What Markdown syntax is supported?

Headings (# to ######), bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code, fenced code blocks with language classes, links, images, unordered and ordered lists, task lists with checkboxes, blockquotes, horizontal rules, and tables. The toolbar inserts the most common formatting — bold, italic, strikethrough, heading, link, code, quote, bullet list, and horizontal rule — around your selection.

Is my Markdown safe to preview?

Yes. The preview is rendered with an XSS-safe converter: any raw HTML you paste is escaped and shown as text rather than executed, and link/image URLs are sanitized so only safe schemes like http:, https:, and mailto: are allowed. You can paste untrusted content without worrying about scripts running in the preview.

What are the differences between the Split, Editor, and Preview views?

Split view shows the editor and the live preview side by side (stacked on small screens) — ideal for writing. Editor view hides the preview for focused writing on large documents. Preview view hides the editor so you can read the rendered result at full width, exactly as readers will see it.

How do I use the formatting toolbar?

Select the text you want to format in the editor, then click a toolbar button — it wraps the selection with the appropriate Markdown syntax (for example, **bold**). If nothing is selected, it inserts the syntax markers and places your cursor ready to type. Block-level tools like quote and bullet list prefix every selected line.

Can I export my document as HTML?

Yes. The Export button downloads your Markdown as a standalone .html file with clean, self-contained styling — perfect for sharing, publishing, or converting to PDF via your browser. The Copy HTML button copies the rendered fragment for pasting into a CMS or page builder.

Is this Markdown tool free and private?

Yes — completely free, no registration, and 100% private. Everything runs entirely in your browser with plain JavaScript; your document is never uploaded, stored, or logged. The tool also works offline after the page loads, so you can write and preview Markdown anywhere.

What happened to the separate Markdown Preview and Markdown Editor tools?

They have been merged into this single unified tool. The old /tools/text/markdown-editor URL now redirects permanently to this page, and the editor and preview features — writing, formatting, live rendering, and export — all live in one place for a smoother workflow.

How to Use the Markdown Editor & Preview

Step-by-Step

  1. 1Type Markdown on the left or paste an existing document.
  2. 2The rendered preview updates on every keystroke.
  3. 3Copy rendered output or keep the raw Markdown for your repo.
